The Academy (est. 1981) is a performing arts school encompassing music, dance  and theatre. With a student body of 700 and a faculty and staff of 28 it has established significant festivals for the students and community.  See Events Calendar for details of annual concert series.

Clansman Pipe Band  Website

The Clansman Pipe Band has been serving the Powell River community for more than forty years. We welcome new members of all ages. For information or to arrange a performance, please contact Ian Richmond.

Free weekly piping and drumming lessons are offered at Oceanview Middle School (7105 Nootka Street above University) on Tuesday evenings to those aspiring to become members of The Clansman Pipe Band. Drumming lessons begin at 7:00 pm and piping lessons begin at 6:30 pm. The band supplies drums, but beginning students must purchase their own sticks and practice pad. Beginning piping students must purchase a practice chanter and tutor book. Students at all levels and of all ages are welcome. For information or to register call Ian Richmond.
