A weekend of good eating and entertainment for the whole family in Lund, a tiny, picturesque village at “Mile 0” of Highway 101 that extends to the tip of South America. It is also the the entrance to Desolation Sound, which attracts visitors from around the world for its beauty and marine life.
The Festival is free and includes tours, music, cooking demonstrations and the opportunity to purchase live shellfish. More information

Started in 1993 the Marathon Shuffle is a relaxed run or walk on 29km of the Sunshine Coast Trail through “old growth, temperate rain forests, along creeks and lake shores, through dales and over hills”. Along the way participants get to enjoy “Magnificent vistas of the Sunshine Coast, adjacent islands, nearby lakes and the city.”
The event is free but, to help maintain trails and cabins, as well as other related expenses, a donation to PAWS (Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society) is encouraged.

National Canadian Film Day is a one-
It was started a couple of years ago by REEL CANADA, which is an organization that has been introducing Canadian high school students to Canadian film for over a decade. We thought that it was unfair that only high school students were getting to have all the fun so we started a day that could include all Canadians in the party!
National Canadian Film Day is that day. It's our chance to stop apologizing for loving Canada, and celebrate by enjoying a great Canadian film.
Take a hike with family and friends along the Willingdon Beach Trail in support of the Powell River Hospice Society. There will be prizes, a hot dog BBQ by the Lions Club, and entertainment. 100% of the funds raised stay in Powell River.
