Parent training & support services for families who are experiencing complex problems that may be multi-generational and include such difficulties as historical abuse, grief & loss, a high degree or conflict &/or substance abuse.  Services are provided in-centre or in the family’s natural setting, as appropriate.  Includes supervised access and homemaker services as directed by the Ministry of Children & Family Development.  Referral through the ministry.

A parenting education and support program for parents of children 0-5 that was developed nationally and is presented in every province and territory.  Locally each program series is 5-6 weekly sessions and is scheduled at least twice yearly, in spring and fall.  The program is co-facilitated by a Public Health Nurse and a trained community facilitator.  Parents have the opportunity to share ideas, tips and experiences of parenting children in their early years.  Registration is required.  The program is free and refreshments are provided at the sessions.

Mother-to-Mother Connections is a resource available to mothers, and other family members who are facing depression and or anxiety after the birth of a child. Support is offered through comfort, discussion and education. For more information contact a Public Health Nurse at the Powell River Community Health Centre.
