Provides a wide range of services for children and youth between birth and 19 years of age and their families.

 

Child & Youth Mental Health Clinical Counselling Service

Clinical intervention & counselling for children & youth with mental health issues

Connections Program

Help with learning and social skills development for middle school students whose ongoing behaviour issues prevent them from participating in regular classes.  Referred by school administrative personnel.

Early Childhood Family & Support Program

Community-based parent training and education groups, and limited individual support services, promoting parental competency and strengthening family life.  The focus is on prevention, and healthy child and family development.

Family Preservation & Reunification Services

Parent training & support services for families who are experiencing complex problems that may be multi-generational and include such difficulties as historical abuse, grief & loss, a high degree or conflict &/or substance abuse.  Services are provided in-centre or in the family’s natural setting, as appropriate.  Includes supervised access and homemaker services as directed by the Ministry of Children & Family Development.  Referral through the ministry.

Foster Care Program Support

Support and training for Ministry of Children & Family Development foster homes, to sustain placements and enhance the ability of foster care providers to deal with a variety of situations and behaviours.  Referral through the Ministry.

Independent Living Support Program

Practical support to youth making the transition to independent living.  Referral through the Ministry of Children & Family Development.

A national program designed to enhance the relationship between parents and their children through shared words, actions, images and feelings of rhymes and stories.

Parent-Teen Mediation Services

Referrals for anger management, teen-to-teen mediation, and parent-teen mediation; open referral and service to School District #47.

Parents Together Program

A weekly group for parents of acting-up teens, following the provincial “Parents Together” model, and focusing on building respect for the dignity and individuality of both the parents and the teens.  Open referral.

Sexual Abuse Intervention Program

Treatment for children and youth who have been sexually abused.

Student Mom Program

A partnership program with SD#47, providing support for teen parents enrolled in a secondary school program.

Youth Advisory Council

Regular planning group and activities that empower youth to provide leadership and problem-solving strategies regarding key identified health and social issues.

Youth Forensics Counselling

Counselling services for young offenders, including clinical intervention, Youth Substance Abuse Management (Y-SAM) program and Youth Violence Intervention (Y-VIP) program.

Youth Justice Hostel

A residential home setting, provided as an alternative to remand or sentenced custody, for young offenders awaiting trial or disposition, or who are on an undertaking.
