In addition to the wide range of outdoor activities like boating, diving, hiking, and riding that can be found in the Sports & Recreation section, Powell River offers both commercial and non-commercial activities to occupy the leisure time of visitors and residents. There is bowling, billiards, an 18-hold golf course as well as mini-golf, swimming and ice skating, a tennis and pickle ball court, a first class track, and a state-of-the-art bike and skate park. There is even exercise equipment at Wllingdon Beach Park provided by the Rotary Club.
This state-of-the art bike and skate park is the talk of the town and beyond with a concrete poured pump track that is the first of its kind in North America. With major funding from the Powell River Community Forest Company it opened in March of 2015 after extensive negotiations that included the City and the Powell River Cycling Association.

“This is a great place to bring your kids and spend some family time away from all those electronic devices! People laughed when I sat my three boys down and explained that the golf clubs were not weapons, they were not to jump in any of the water features or drink them either. Seriously, they're boys. We had a great time and finished up with a great cone - so many great flavours to choose from! We (meaning I) may have hit the candy display and bought all my childhood favourites too!”
Opened in 1968 the Powell River Recreation and Leisure centre is a hub for community activities. It has two ice rinks, a swimming pool, weight room and exercise studio as well as a performance theatre and meeting rooms. Included on the grounds is a horseshoe pitch and a state-of-the-art bike and skate park.
Willingdon Beach is a multi-use park that has seen a multitude of events through the years. In addition to a children's playground, a beautiful sandy beach and a large expanse of grass, there is a performance stage; permanent structures for Logger Sports; the Forestry Museum; and outdoor exercise equipment designed for seniors.
