The Powell River Public Library is the best deal in town.  Anyone can walk in, pull up a chair and enjoy our books, magazines, free wi-fi or public computers. Library cards are free to area residents and enable you to borrow from our collections of books, magazines, DVDs and more.  Check out the new website or come in and pick up the Getting Started Guide for a full description of our many services and programs.

Friends of the Library Email

The Friends of the Library is an association of community members who value our Library. We have been demonstrating support through membership and volunteer participation since 1990.

Our goals are to raise funds for Library collections, equipment and special projects; build membership; encourage donations; and provide advocacy.

Collection, preservation and research of historical records, photographs and documents of the Powell River area. Two floors of displays.  Archival material available.  Accepts gifts of local artefacts. Tours welcome all year round. See website for many historical photos and history information.

Hours: 9-5 Mon to Sunday mid-June to end of August
9-4:30 September to mid-June.  Closed for public holidays.

Texada Public Library

The Texada Library is a volunteer-staffed community library that maintains a permanent collection of donated and purchased fiction, non-fiction and reference books, plus videos, CD’s, DVD’s and books-on-tape. Special collections include children's fiction and local history.

Any resident or visitor to Texada Island may borrow circulating Library materials. Free Internet access is provided at the Texada Library with the assistance of the Powell River Regional District.  Access is via satellite and includes Wi-Fi, which is available in the parking lot even if our Library is closed.

Hours: Mon 12:30-2:30; Tue 5-7; Wed 12–2; Thu 7–9; Fri 12-2; Sat 11–1;
Sunday 12 to 2 when Farmers Market is open
Hours could change depending on people’s requirements.
